Kim Couture (formerly Hodges) has graced many pages, stages and mics as a radio DJ, comedian, producer, writer, and graphic designer. In her earliest years of showbiz dating back to 2003, Kim was involved in small parts and extras casting for numerous independent films and TV shows, including playing “Babysitter #3” for an L.A. Film Studies movie and cast as an extra in a commercial for Saint Agnes Hospital. Kim was accepted to MTV’s reality show “Date My Mom” before they realized she lied about her age to get the part and subsequently had her contract offer withdrawn. Kim took a year of acting classes through John Robert Powers in Modesto, CA before showing up to an empty facility one weekend and realizing she had been scammed - though she didn’t let that crush her dreams. Kim went on to gain a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and worked as a nightlife reporter and graphic designer for numerous news publications such as the North Coast Journal and Savage Henry Independent Times. During college she was a DJ for her student radio KRFH and began performing stand up comedy. Kim went on to became a regular on-air host for a local commercial radio station, and was the original host of the wildly popular and still running “Friday Night ‘90s” show on KSLG in California. She has interviewed and profiled musical artists such as Pepper, Lifehouse, Cypress Hill, and Collie Buddz, just to name just a few, as well as notable community members and traveling artists of all kinds. Kim has featured for long-famous comedians such as Doug Stanhope, Kyle Kinane, Ngaio Bealum, Brian Redban, Brooks Wheelan, Tom Rhodes, and many more. She has performed in nationally known clubs such as the San Francisco Punch Line, Zanies in Chicago, and countless historic theaters, performance spaces, and dive bars. Kim was a member of numorous improv troups including Random Acts of Comedy and On The Spot Comedy, regularly performing live shows for 200+ audience members in a theatre setting. She has been a performer in the Savage Henry Comedy Festival numerous years. Kim created the popular local satire news source “The Tomato” which was featured as a publication source for Cal Poly Humboldt’s Satire Writing course. Kim has built and self-produced (on top of hosting and performing) a handful of successful, recurring stand up comedy shows including “Kingpin Comedy” in California, and most recently created and is the co-producer of “Laugh it Uptown” in Chicago. Kim relates to audiences of all flavors and ages with topics of parenthood, troublemaking, corporate life, and good ol’ slice of life stories of everyday nothings. Originally from California, Kim currently lives in Chicago.
